JOB DESCRIPTION:
Enterprise Infrastructure DATABASE engineering position: The DATABASE engineering position exists within an Infrastructure/Shared Services organization but focuses primarily on the delivery of high-quality infrastructure designs to support complex business applications, databases and middleware component deployments. The DATABASE engineer will provide the enterprise level database solutions in technical leadership role or subject matter expert role and will contribute to project executions in parallel. Maturity of enterprise database technologies and mission critical business processes will be important support activities alongside technical DATABASE architecture refinements and project implementation work.
MUST:
· Demonstrate a technical understanding of enterprise level database system requirement gathering process for successful project implementation
· Demonstrate the ability to think beyond tactical/immediate project deliverables to assess impacts and mitigate risks and costs
· Demonstrate the ability to develop system design and deployment solutions in the database function to support project executions
· Demonstrate sound technical knowledge and professional experience in leveraging SQLSERVER 2008 R2 & SQLSERVER 2012 64-bit technology as a Database deployment platform for implementing enterprise class database systems.
· Demonstrate the ability to enforce database standards for project executions and consecutively achieve operational deployment success
· Demonstrate hands-on experience performing SQLSERVER database migrations from legacy Microsoft Windows o/s 32 & 64-bit platforms running legacy Microsoft SQLSERVER database releases (SQLSERVER pre-2005 versions) to the target Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 64-bit operating system w/ Microsoft SQLSERVER 2008 R2 and/or SQLSERVER 2012 database release technology platform
· Demonstrate hands-on experience performing SQLSERVER reporting solutions leveraging SSRS tool sets
SHOULD:
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of SQLSERVER 2008 R2 and/or 2012 [Preferred], SQLSERVER 2005 [Considered] database platform as a service.
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of Clustering technologies [ESX clustering - Preferred, Other tools - Considered] to implement high-availability solution deployed for SQLSERVER databases
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of enterprise level database backup recovery solution for database platform. [Legato Networker – Preferred, Other tools - Considered]
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of enterprise level database disaster recovery solution for SQLSERVER database platform. [EMC SRDF/A - Preferred, Other tools - Considered]
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of enterprise monitoring technologies [BMC Patrol – Preferred] for SQLSERVER databases
· Demonstrate recent, professional experience with DB platform migrations of legacy SQLSERVER database releases from Microsoft Windows / SQLSERVER Pre-2005 32/64 bit to Microsoft Windows / SQLSERVER 2008 R2 and/or SQLSERVER 2012 64-bit.
· Demonstrate recent, professional experience in migrating legacy reporting solution exist in SQLSERVER Pre-2005 32/64 bit to the more robust SSRS reporting services in SQLSERVER 2008 R2 and/or SQLSERVER 2012 64-bit database release.
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure in implementing SQLSERVER database storage from the underlying ESX storage allocation methodologies with a good understanding of the underlying SAN/storage technologies (EMC VMAX/DMAX - preferred)
· Demonstrate recent, professional experience in conforming and adapting to standard documentation methods for database solutions
· Demonstrate an understanding of some quality/maturity methodology (ITIL [Preferred], Six Sigma, etc.)
MAY:
· Demonstrate recent, professional experience with automated provisioning, patching, and compliance-checking/-enforcement tools for SQLSERVER
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to ESX clustering on Intel x86_64 based computing platform for SQLSERVER deployments
· Demonstrate recent, professional experience with Microsoft Project
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to HP Project and Portfolio Management [PPM – Preferred, Other tools – Considered]
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Crystal reports
· Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to centralized scheduling tools [BMC Control-M - Preferred, Other tools – Considered]
