Position : BI/DW ETL Architect

Duration : 6 month

Location : Portland, OR

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Ø A degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, equivalent work experience of 10+ years overall IT or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired

Ø 3+ years in a Lead or Architect role

Ø Hands on working experience of at least 5-7 years experience working with IBM Datastage and Quality Stage, Data profiling tools like Information Analyzer or Informatica Data Explorer and/or other ETL tools

Ø Ability to design and develop complex ETL mappings, sessions, workflows and identify areas of optimizations

Ø Ability to read and/or design logical and multi-dimensional data models

Ø Experience with MS SQL Server 2008 R2

Ø Experience with Oracle RDBMS 10g or 11g

Ø Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are required

Ø Proven ability and desire to mentor/coach others in a team environment

Ø Experience with relational, multidimensional and OLAP techniques and technology

PREFERRED SKILLS

Ø Previous Supply Chain or Logistics industry experience

Ø IBM DataStage experience on SQL Server as target platform

Ø IBM DataStage administration experience

Ø Working with and coordinating with a global extended support team

Ø Experience with Oracle GoldenGate or SQL Server Replication and change data capture

Ø Experience working with IBM iSeries to migrate data to our new DW environment

Ø Ability to work with cross cultural, diverse, and geographically distributed teams

 

SUMMARY

As a member of the Data Architecture and Reporting (DAR) team, the BI/DW ETL Architect is responsible for loading the brand new data warehouse efficiently. The Architect is responsible for data validation, data cleansing, data transformation as well as writing and scheduling complex ETL jobs. This role includes analyzing and understanding the data transformation rules required to extract and transform and load the new Data Warehouse. The architect is responsible for ETL automation and developing the IBM DataStage framework including restartability, error handling, notifications, etc. This position works closely with other DAR team members globally and other IT functional teams to analyze, create, implement, and support ETL mappings.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Technical Lead for onsite and offshore ETL team

Ø Create design pattern templates for deliverable objects

Ø Design the system components for the extract/transform or conversion of data from source systems to the target application

Ø Design system components which reconcile and audit the results of the extract/transform or conversion of data from source systems to the target application

Ø Construct the extract/transform, transfer and audit components of a data warehousing system or data conversion programs through the use of extract development tools or custom developed procedures

Ø Define and manage the data load procedures; facilitate the change data capture

Ø In addition to developing new mappings / ETL jobs, also responsible for automation, monitoring and supporting mappings, and re-designing if required to make them run faster and more reliable

Ø Develop a framework which can scale from batch based ETL to event-driven ETL architecture

Ø Handle XML and web service as data source in ETL jobs for trickle feeds

Ø Define and implement ETL development standards and procedures

Ø Define and implement ETL tool configuration

Ø Ensure effective ETL functional decomposition into deliverable objects

Ø Ensure ETL quality through inspections and knowledge sharing

Ø Strong analysis and design skill

Ø Strong experience with IBM DataStage

Ø Strong experience with business intelligence and data warehousing design principles and industry best practices.

Ø Deep understanding of relational database design concepts and SQL programming
